Bennett Wyche is a succesful flag football coach at Stranahan High School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

He got a little carried away during a critical moment in his teams game, and tried to help his team out in a not so sporting manner. After a defender picked off a pass from his quarterback she sprinted down the sideline for what looked like a pick six.

Wyche wasn’t having it so he did his Woody Hayes impression and reached out and pulled the girls flag as she ran by. That ruined the touchdown and the poor girls’ glory of running one back, but the refs saw it and penalized the Stranahan accordingly.

The worst part? A sharp photographer snapped this picture at the exact moment, memorializing this mistake by Wyche for the world to see!

Bennett Wyche faces no more punishment from the school and the matter is closed.

Chic Hess was the head basketball coach of Kalaheo High School in Kailua, Hawaii for only two weeks.

Hess accepted the head coaching job on April 9th, and resigned 14 days later to make his tenure one of the shortest in high school coaching history.  Of course, Hess sited “personal reasons” as every other coach that quits with little or no notice does, but it does make you wonder what caused this departure.

Perhaps some enlightened members of the Mustang Community can fill us in?

Chic Hess is 66 years old.

Several cheerleaders at Saginaw High School in Texas have been suspended for the balance of the school year for spiking sodas with urine.

They actually did this to their own teammates and a parent or two. Now this actually happened at a game last winter, but the girls couldn’t help but brag about their genius plan, and eventually word got to administrators who quickly cracked the case and got confessions.

It’s hard to understand why they are not facing criminal charges, but it is one more example of crimes not being crimes if they happen at school.

Matt James was an All-American football player at St. Xavier High School in Cincinnati, Ohio.

He died Friday after falling from a 3rd floor balcony at a Days Inn Motel in Panama City Beach, Florida.  Death was likely instantaneous from a fall at over 30 feet.

 James and several other students from St. Xavier High School were in Florida to celebrate Spring Break.  Matt James had even more to celebrate last week.  He was one week away from his 18th birthday and two months away from fulfilling his lifelong dream of Playing football for the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame on a full scholarship.

Unfortunately, some bad decisions that night led to a fatal consequence.  Witnesses agree that James was drunk, and that he had climbed the balcony railings and was “shaking his finger” at some guests in the next room over.  No word yet as to why he was upset, but witnesses also say he was “agitated” at the time.

With a promising and high profile athlete like Matt James, you can believe that the investigation will not conclude with the cause of death and toxicology report.  Police plan on pursuing this case until they determine who provided this underage boy with alcohol.

The person that did provide the booze should probably hire an attorney first thing in the morning.  Reports are that there were a half-dozen or so chaperone’s on the trip with the students.  Nice job folks.  Nice job.

Matt James was just 17 years old.

Meet Quincy Miller.  He has been stealing parts of the Orr High School football stadium for the last three months.

Police allege he started by removing and stealing bleacher seats, and had recently worked his way up to hacking off the aluminum facing of the school’s new stadium.

Obviously he was selling the aluminum and had no intention of stopping until the stadium was picked clean.  It is hard to imagine that he avoided capture this long, but he did.  It is probably no coincidence that just a couple of days ago the school offered a 5,000 dollar reward for information leading to his arrest.

The cost for the school to replace the aluminum?  45,000 dollars.

Diana Yarboi is the principal at Ayala High School in Chino Hills, California.

One of the things she seems to take great pleasure in is firing good coaches.  This past Tuesday she called in basketball coach Kenny Donavon to review his first season and fired him a few minutes in to the meeting.  Needless to say, Kenny Donavon was shocked since he had completed a successful first season as coach of the Bulldogs.

If you think he was surpirised, imagine how Athletic Director Steve Martin must have felt when he wasn’t asked, advised or informed of the decision until it was done.  Makes you wonder why Diana Yarboi even has an athletic director on staff?

Now it looks like Yarboi was just knee jerking because of some parent complaints about Coach Donavon.  Seems she caught some complaints from other parents [among others] about the firing, and hired coach Ayala back today after apologizing to him.

I wonder if she told the Athletic Director that she was hiring him back?

What a mess this program is.

No doubt Yarboi is facing a lot of pressure as this school is located in one of the wealthiest counties in the country.  It looks like more money came out in favor of the coach than against him.

Robert Bettis and Janel Williams were the head coaches of the boys and girls basketball teams at Blount High School in Eight Mile, Alabama.

Both of these succesful coaches were fired today by Blount High School Principal Jerome Woods.  The Principal borrowed the most worn out cliche’ in the book saying the school was “going in a different direction”.

Robert Bettis and Janel Williams were surely surprised by this turn events given their success on the court.

Raphael McLean is the Band Director at Lakewood High School in St. Petersburg, Florida.

He was arrested today on a single charge of lewd and lascivious molestation.

Detectives said that late last year he wrestled a 15 year old girl to the floor of the band room and fondled her breasts over her clothes.  They went on to say that this past Monday a similar event occurred but there was no contact with her breasts.

Apparently the second incident led to the student coming forward with the charges.

It is important to remember that these are only allegations at this point, and the entire case is being built upon only the girls claims.  There are no witnesses and there is no evidence so far.
