All of you people trying to say awful things [dave & MS], shame to you. All of us are mourning and you're going to sit there and make Joey out to be a bad kid. Wow, you suck. MS, hey don't you think that if you're drunk you have impaired judgement? Nobody PLANS on crashing into a tree and dying. You're an awful person. And dave, same goes to you. You two should go to hell for saying such awful things. Rest in paradise, joey.

That is really a very simplistic viewpoint. Once again, and please retain this; there are things that need to be addressed and cleaned up in our program. Almost every high school baseball program in the state of Texas as well as other states has problems that they need to clean up. yes, we are not other schools, we are RR. I get it.

However, there are dynamics that affect programs these days. Some choose to call them excuses. This simply means that these people either have an agenda and don't want the facts, or they are too lazy to break it down and look for answers. Saying there is no discipline and leadership reeks of general dissatisfaction. Some will say what you say because their kid got cut or didn't make the varsity. Some will say it because they heard someone else say it. Some genuinely believe it based on what they see. Others will say everything is fine, because their kid is on the varsity and starting and they don't care about anything else. I don't know you or your motives, so I don't comment on you personally.

I know Dragon baseball a lot more than you might realize. I know what's going on and there are some things I wish were different and some things I think are good. If John Langerhans were coaching, I'm sure there would be some things I didn't agree with. Are my disagreements with the program worth going to the AD and complaining about? No.Maybe yours are. Maybe your complaints are legit. If so, go to the AD with a list and complain. Take others with you that have the same concerns. If it means something to you and you feel strongly about it, act. otherwise, you become like many others who grouse on a message board and remain miserable. it's just common sense.

Actually, last year our stats were listed several times in the American-Statesman. Pretty much each week our players were listed in the Cen-Tex baseball stats. There have not been anything in the Statesman as of yet this year for anyone. They don't even have baseball previews anymore, even in the Leader. Maybe once the high school basketball tourney is over, it will pick up.

I don't know what all Coach Carter does to promote his players. I know he fields all requests and talks to coaches that call. Is that enough? Maybe, maybe not. Some coaches DO hit the phone and try to find places for their players. Some don't have the time, or just don't. I'm not them so I don't know. Nor have I ever been in charge of a high school program. I remember Coach John Skeeters at Sam Houston State was a very successful college coach, but he was dead-set against his program being used as a stepping-stone to the pros and would not cooperate with scouts. Each coach has his own way of doing things.

I have never been real big on stats. I like them as far as playing around with them, but I don't base a whole lot of faith in them, because they are numbers on paper. They don't always tell the truth. A pitcher gives up 7 hits in, let's say, 2 innings. On paper, that looks terrible. In reality, the pitcher had the batters totally fooled and they happened to poke about 5 of those hits through holes or pooched them over the infield...some on excuse me check swings. the pitcher's ERA will reflect badly when it is really just an oddity of the game. A batter, on the other hand, hits 3 line shots, screamers, right at fielders. Yet he is 0 for 3 and it hurts his BA. Scouts know this, and that is why they don't read stats in the paper to go by, but insist on seeing the players for themselves. That's why you spoke to "20" scouts who were actually there, instead of them waiting for the coach to send them stats. all the scouting services that coaches look at don't throw a bunch of numbers up there. Their evals talk about balance, arm strength, bat speed, field savvy, etc.

Now, that being said, a hit is a hit, and a .435 BA is better than a .350 avg, no doubt. It just doesn't tell the whole story in itself necessarily. Any serious (not fanatic) baseball fan knows this.

If Stony Point, and whoever else, is going out of their way to advance players after high school, that's great. If they want to post it on their web-site like "Hey, look what we do" then that's their business. Personally, I wouldn't want to toot my own horn like that (kind of like businesses who appear in the paper presenting a humongous check to a charity...yes, it does help the charity, but it is a self pat on the back and advertizing ploy).

Actually, this is nothing much. It's not that big of a deal. I personally know of several people Carter has helped and spoken for when they asked. If a kid shows interest in playing college ball, he should approach Carter and ask him to help. Also, coaches put their reputation on the line when they speak up for a kid. If the kid is not interested or doesn't do his part, it makes it hard for scouts to trust the coach when a legit player comes along.

voice of reason, do you ever talk to parents or players and get their opinion about our baseball program? If you do not have a kid in the program then you are reacting to our situation as if it was normal. the players need leadership and discipline and most of all instruction.that is not a normal scenario. i do not care how it got to this point but we have to change directions. The comment about "wait till next year" should be on a wall in the dressing room. After last year coach was gonna solve the problems before mentioned and he lost interest. You along with a select few live on luck that our team will prevail. The jury was in long ago on this team. Its about everyone being developed and improving. I promise you time is running out on this season and when the dust settles we will not be involved in any capacity of the playoffs. we have been outworked, out smarted, outplayed. when it is over the coach will talk about how the kids just were not good enough baseball players. How he told them how to play. how he is going to solve the problems for next season. "WAIT TILL NEXT YEAR"

Thank you for an intelligent response. you said you were confused by my comment about RR being perfect. You are right that I was out of line with that comment, but there is some idiot on this site that just throws nonsense at anyone that says we are less than perfect.

That is what I meant when I said that.

And you make wonderful points about the ups and downs of a season. It ebbs and tides, no doubt.

I don't want to get into that. My argument is strictly related to how high school coaches can and will help these guys get to the next level.

My post was just trying to prove that some coaches do more than others to advance players careers. You can draw your own conclusions from the facts.

Someone posted that because we don't post stats doesn't mean we don't report them. What a NEWBIE!!!!

RR doesn't report stats to the Statesman because Carter "doesnt want the other teams to know what we have" That is a quote. look it up....

If you think that RR is doing what Stony Point is doing to promote players to the next level, then you clearly are mentally unstable.

RR does not communicate on any level with any college teams anywhere in Texas. PERIOD.

I was at a tryout last year for a kid and there were around 20 college coaches that I was mingling with and they almost all asked "what happened to Round Rock, we never hear about anyone coming out of there?"

I know our coach is not paid to be a PR director for our players, I was just saying that some programs do more.

Stony Point players have a better chance of playing college ball because of their coaches commitments, thats all I am saying.

This has nothing to do with how I feel about the talent on the field this year.
