Andrew McCann of Greater New Bedford killed in car crash

Andrew McCann was an athletic and academic star at Greater New Bedford RVT High School in New Bedford, Massachusetts.

Tragically he died Thursday morning on his way to school as the car he was riding in lost control and crashed on Route 140. It is early in the investigation and police have not released a report on the cause of the crash.

It is unknown if McCann was wearing a seat-belt at the time, and this may have contributed to his death. Two other occupants of the vehicle survived the accident.

Andrew McCann was a member of the Bears baseball, track and football teams and was popular among his teammates and fellow students.

Andrew McCann was just 17 years old.
