Coach Tim Green resigns from Skaneateles, but the damage is done.

Tim Green was the new boy wonder head coach at Skaneateles High School in Skaneateles, New York. He had turned the program from a loser to a winner in just one year.
He offered up his resignation this week in hopes that the court system would allow his Skaneateles Lakers to continue their season into the playoffs.
The whole mess started when the Skaneateles football program came under accusations and scrutiny involving recruiting violations. While no coaches were specifically named because of our politically correct society, it is curious that Coach Green offered his personal resignation in order to gain favor from the governing bodies to reinstate the Lakers into the playoffs.
If it had been an assistant coach that was being accused, the head coaches resignation would have zero bearing on the matter. Draw your own conclusions. It is possible that Coach Green was such a noble man that he tried to fall on the sword even though he was innocent just to see the kids continue their dream.
On the other hand, it seems that the governing bodies must have had time to investigate the matter before they banned Skaneateles from the playoffs, and that Green would have easily had time to dispel the accusations.
From the outside, it looks like nobody at Skaneateles got serious about the investigation until they got thrown out on their ass from the playoffs.
As of today, the courts have ruled that Skaneateles is done and their perfect season is over. If coach Green did or did not knowingly cheat will probably never be known, but the absolute fact is that the governing body was convinced he or his staff did cheat, and that is all that matters.

Tim Green – the darling of Syracuse because he grew up in Liverpool, NY, a stone’s throw from the Carrier Dome where he played for SU, and then went on to have a pathetic NFL career – screwed his son Troy and the Skaneateles Lakers football team all in an attempt to relive his glory days. As an attorney he should have known the bad guys always get caught. I feel badly that the boys were the ones who suffered, but it happens in college all the time – teams take the sanctions for their coaches’ misdeeds – even if the coach is no longer there.
