Kelly Fox of Manchester Central has had enough
By moderator on Jun 08, 2011 with Comments 17
Kelly Fox is the much embattled girls’ cross country coach at Manchester Central High School in New Hampshire.
She was suspended last year after one family came forward saying that she had basically mistreated Elizabeth and Alexandra Conway. Fox was reinstated after the community and other track athletes came out out of the woodwork to support Coach Fox.
The Conway family was clearly not happy about the turn of events, and have now chosen to sue the Manchester school district because the district allowed Fox to mistreat the sisters.
Kelly Fox appears to have had enough of this fiasco and has decided to resign. She sent out a letter to parents saying that she had submitted her resignation this past Friday.
The suit filed by the Conway family makes several accusations against Fox and the school district. The gist of the argument is that the sisters were treated unfairly.
You really wonder why, of all the track athletes, that Coach Fox singled out these two girls to mistreat while the other athletes and their parents would publicly praise their coach?

I know the [name removed] personally, and they are evil, dirty, spoiled good for nothing brats. They whine to get their way, manipulate others, and are under the false illusion that they have supporters (friends). This situation is perfectly relatable to the historical period of Nazi Germany. See, the Nazis and Hitler were evil. They manipulated others to get their way. Look what broke out, a world war! The Conways powers are equivalent to this. They must be stopped. In ancient Egypt, God gave Moses the ten commandments and told him to set his people free. We too, should be freed from the guiltless oppression placed on us by the Conway.

No the Conway’s may not have made the claim that they are perfect. I sure it was more like we are better then you and so are our kids. It is one thing to want you kids to succeed and be number one. But it is another to fight the system to ensure you kids are number one. I can’t wait until this goes to court and the truth comes out about this family.

Spinner, The Conway’s may have never made the claim they are perfect, it was we are better then you and are kids are as well. It is one thing to be driven and wanting you kids to be number one, it is another thing to fight the system to ensure your kids are number one. I can’t wait if this goes to court and everyone gets to find out the truth about this family.

I think this is very sad. If coaches aren’t able to discipline all their athletes how can they manage a team. Also what happened to freedom of speech and expression. There is nothing offensive about the T-Shirts and can be construed as people want. Also i have read the 22 page writ, and if I sued every time a group talked about me I wold be rich. It’s interesting to see how the lawyer produced his argument to show that everyone has “retaliated” and “bullied” the girls.
I’m glad this will be a trial by jury and would love to sit in on this.
I also think its funny how much the family has worked to “cover up” this incident from colleges. I know that if I was a college and saw this I wouldn’t want these students on my campus.
All in all I pity both the Conways and the school district. IOT shouldn’t have to come to this. I believe a stern apology would be an acceptable thing from the school and to have it left at that.

Are you serious or did you type that wrong? You said the school should apologize….. You cannot be serious! I hope I am misreading your comment though I have read it three times.
SPOILED ROTTEN BRATS. That is all this story is about…. period.

Not a real apology… Just like one of those half-baked ones that people give with no meaning. Like, ” We MANSD apologize that you felt bullied and that your (stupidity)actions lead to repercussions that you couldn’t deal with. We are sorry for asking you to live with the decisions you make.”
not that sarcastic but you get the general idea

Spinner,
It’s funny that you portray this issue as some kind of dialectic struggle between the “haves” and the “have nots” when the family in question has the resources to leverage an all-out assault on the school district. Other families I know can’t take their grievances straight to the superintendent, or manage to finagle their daughter into a 2-credit online gym class so she can graduate valedictorian. If you think your son was unfairly treated, you have recourse to the same avenues of complaint as every other family–that is, except for the Conways, who wouldn’t face institutional reproach if they marched into Rist’s office waving uzis.
Central has kowtowed to this family’s absolutely ridiculous agenda at the expense of supporting a really decent coach–somebody who breathed life into a dying program. Kelly will find a coaching position at a school without a pusillanimous puppet-administration manipulated by a family of psychos. But on the positive side, Central’s program won’t have to worry about budget cuts with only two people on the roster next year: Elizabeth and her mom.

Wow! Such hatred and once again, no facts to back up the claims. I will once again be accused of being the Conways. Call me what you will, but I am not. They had no idea about this site until I told them about it, and have never said anything to me about this site since then. All of this could have been avoided if Kelly, and then the ‘higher ups’ had listened in the first place. However, they did not, as they are all in bed together so to speak, you get nowhere. Trust me I have tried. This problem goes deeper than the Conway/Fox issue too. This is a district-wide, city wide problem. It cuts to the heart of who we are as a people. Right vs. left, union vs. non-union. Right vs. Wrong. The thing is, are you going to stand up for what is right, or go along with the group because you are too fearful of the repercussions? Are you going to teach your kids to do what is right, regardless of the fall-out, or will you teach them to go along with the crowd, and not make waves? I find it very interesting that the same group of people that wanted the bullying laws put into law are the same group who can’t take it when they are being confronted about their bullying tactics. In a country where there is no longer a sense of right and wrong, an everything is ‘OK’ mentality exists. If this is the case then why enact a bullying law in the first place? You may laugh when I say this, but this is how the nazis came into power. Most were too afraid to speak up, not some but most. The Conways are speaking up, and they will pay a price for it. An example; just this week my son was called an asshole, by a teacher. He (my son) had forgotten to put his date and mod at the top of his paper. The kid was tired, he is a freshman, and works a landscaping job after school, comes home late, and does homework late, he simply forgot. Upon handing in his paper the teacher said, condescendingly, “name, date, mod” and then threw the paper at him, and the paper landed on the floor. Now my son said he did not roll his eyes or sigh. Personally I would have punched the guy, at any rate, that is when the teacher called him an a-hole. Now what am I supposed to do about that? If I speak up, my kid is branded, and I become the pushy parent. If I shut up I teach the kid, that it is OK for people to walk all over him, thereby teaching him to be a weak individual. This never would have happened when I was growing up. Some of these teachers, just think that they can get away with anything. This would never happen at BG or Trinity. First of all the teachers are mature, and held to a standard, and secondly there is a face behind the check, or cash. Because this is ‘public ed’ they think they can be rude, condescending, arrogant, and they expect the kids to be nice in return. Well the field day is over. Parents will hopefully take a clue from people like the Conways and start standing up and demanding that these teachers at least be civil. And if you can’t stand kids….then get out of teaching. I reiterate, this goes much deeper than a coach and an athlete! I am sure that the Conways have legions of documented examples as to what has gone on.

If your school is that bad and there are others that are so much better, why aren’t you transferring your son there?

Thats the point, we have no choice in some respects. Selling a house right now in Manchester is next to impossible. The schools do not have a good reputation and that is one of the first things well educated people look for. My husband lost his good job a couple of years ago. We are getting a taste of what it is like, when you have ‘no’ money; you have little choice. We have taught all of them at home, because we could not afford private ed. Private ed is the way to go. When there is a face, that goes along with the money somehow everything is changed. As a parent you should feel free to state your case. Even if you are wrong. When you no longer feel as though you can voice an opinion, there is a serious problem. I was at a junior high just last week, and saw a couple of students being treated disrespectfully by staff. I was saddened by this, and figured these kids probably have no advocate for them. It is not right, and these were not my kids, so I would have no other reason to state this other than it is true. What’s good for the goose is good for the gander. If students cannot ‘bully’ then neither should teachers! I have witnessed what has gone on first hand, in this case. There is no excuse for any of it.

You are clearly one of those moms that accepts your kids side of the story as absolute gospel. I know it didn’t go down like that. Your kid is probably a smart ass that pushes the teachers limits every day.
Why would this teacher pick your PERFECT student to go off on? Why?

Clearly…. you are one of those parents that never takes your kids side, is that right? This is pointless to argue with people who cannot follow a logical argument to it’s plausible conclusion. First of all you do not know me, nor I you. To make a statement like that, once again proves my point, that the majority of people commenting on this issue have no ideas as to the facts of the case. No my kid is not a “smart a**” as you put it. Why do you feel that you need to resort to using profanity to make a point? Actually, my kid, sees through the hypocrisy of teachers and administrators. Is that NOTwhat you want your kids to see, ‘truth’ or do you want to each them to go along with the crowd, just to keep the peace? If that is your thinking at what point do you teach your kid to stand up? See the problem with this kind of thinking is that it only applies to certain situations, not to all. You may not know this, but a few years back, Central’s administrators were ready to suspend a student, Cory Sinotte. They wanted to suspend him for using some form of a ‘profanity’ on a skit night. It was actually a slang term. Problem was, they play this type of music with the real lyrics in it at games etc. Then they have Adam Sandler speak at a graduation and he uses profanity and everyone applauds. See you can’t have it both ways. Unless of course you are a teacher at Central, then you can do whatever you want. The teachers can be condescending, rude, impolite, mean, manipulative and just plain nasty. They can treat you like you are an idiot, Thats OK, but the kids are not do do any of that! Here you have a bullying law, but it only applies to kids? This is like Clinton calling Weiner and telling him to resign, over his sexual escapdes, What are you teaching these kids? I will tell you what you are teaching them; to be mamby-pamby onlookers with out the ability to do the right thing when all of the others are doing the wrong thing. I use this analogy all of the time, but it fits. In Nazi Germany, there were hoards of people willing to look the other way while thousands were being tortured. You know where that started? These strong German people didn’t wake up one morning and become spineless. They were taught for years to accept a lie, to not stand up when they saw wrong, to be politically correct, to go along with the crowd, don’t stand up, don’t make waves. That is how they could stand there and watch their neighbors being hauled away by the Nazis. Thank-God some had spines. Some had been taught right from wrong and some had been given by their parents the ability to stand firm and strong for the side of what was right. This present case, is a case where teaching your kid to do right, is bringing upon yourself and your kid anquish. There is no parent that willingly does that, unless they feel strongly enough that they are on the right side. This is the one of the reasons this country is in so much trouble, no one wants to take a stand on anything! We have become jelly-fish, spineless creatures, who could care less about what is right.

You are so righteous. Your righteousness is almost blinding. Have you considered home-schooling? It seems as though your children are too smart for the system.
“Actually, my kid, sees through the hypocrisy of teachers and administrators. Is that NOTwhat you want your kids to see, ‘truth’ or do you want to each them to go along with the crowd, just to keep the peace?”
If your son is the arbitrator of “truth”…why don’t you home-school? He seems to have the “system” all locked up. In fact, why aren’t you or your son teaching? It appears as though you have the higher moral ground and all of the great personal grief associated with it.
You should remove yourselves from the rest of us…in this “hypocrisy of teachers and administrators”.
I bet you are always the victims in some form or another. The rest of us ingrates just don’t measure up to the privileged world you and your children seem to be living in.
Just because you scream the loudest or make the biggest noise does not vindicate your behavior.
“This is the one of the reasons this country is in so much trouble, no one wants to take a stand on anything! We have become jelly-fish, spineless creatures, who could care less about what is right. ”
Don’t assume the rest of us are in trouble. Be satisfied in your super-righteousness. The rest of us in this country are fine. Just because your insulated self-absorbed, naval gazing world is coming apart all around you do not assume the rest of us are in any trouble.
If you or your children are incapable of interacting with the rest of “us” without viewing everyone (and publicly trusted educators in particular) with basic respect and human dignity, it is you who has some reflecting to do.
It is a sad reflection upon the profession that another good teacher and coach has chosen to move on. Statistically this is occurring all over the nation. Good people are being bullied out of the profession by squeaky wheels like this family who take their own personal agendas and try to force them upon the greater community.
The apple often does not fall far from the tree. It does not surprise me at all that your children are being portrayed as they are. Selfish, self absorbed privileged children who seem to feel they can address professional adults in any manner their own righteousness dictates.
Sad.
Very Sad.

The school district should apologise to the Conways. After all they are perfect.
In reality, I think it was STUPID for their lawyer to ask for a jury trial. If the lawyer did ont ask for a jury trail he would only have to convince a judge that the family is a bunch of spoiled brats. now he has to convice a whole jury thay are not.
By suing, the family actaully put their reputation (or what little is left of it) on the line. The trail will not be about the reactions of community, it will become a judgement of the Conways. If they loose, it will mean that everytihng written about them will be justified.
The best think they could do is hope for a pretrail settlement and then use the money to move to a place that does not have Internet.

The Conway’s have never made the claim that they are perfect. I have searched various sites regarding this case from it’s beginnings, and have not once seen what I would term a “conway” or a relative use the kind of hateful speech that has been used towards them. Recently I saw a post that called the two Conway girls pathetic whores. Seriously? Some of you people need to grow up! I would not use that language against an enemy. This is a political issue at it’s core. In Manchester you can’t stand up for what is right or you will be ‘crucified’ on the alter of public opinion. I wouldn’t want to be the Conway’s, or anyone else for that matter that tries to stand up for what is right in this city…..good luck with that!
