John Maronto returns to coach after arrest

John Maronto is the successful head football coach at Mainland High School in Daytona Beach, Florida.

As we noted earlier, Maronto was arrested this past Saturday for offering an undercover police woman 50 bucks for sex. Technically he was arrested for solicitation of prostitution.

Volusia County School Officials have now cleared Maronto to return to the classroom and the sidelines beginning Thursday. Now they say this is part of an ongoing investigation that will be closely monitored, blah, blah, blah. Translation - “we hope this dies down and goes away because this guy is a great coach”

Now bear in mind, this is the same school system that has a Zero Tolerance policy for its players. If you are a player and get arrested you are suspended immediately.  No questions asked, no explanation accepted.

A very nice life lesson was offered up today, to be sure.  Today the kids in this school district learned that life is not fair, and sports success is more important than quality of character.

John-Maronto will apparantly complete his 15thyear as the Buccaneers head coach.
