Brian “Maynard” Welsh of West Windsor-Plainsboro South commits suicide

Brian “Maynard” Welsh was the Soccer coach at West Windsor-Plainsboro High School South in Princeton Junction, New Jersey.

According to authorities, Welsh committed suicide shortly after noon Sunday when he stepped in front of a bullet train that was traveling at over 100 miles an hour.  A suicide note was later found in his car.

Coach Welsh had been dealing with marital problems and alcohol recovery issues that police believe led to his fateful decision.

By all accounts, Welsh was well liked and respected by students, players and colleagues.  More details of his life and influence on others can be found here.
