Rowan County football players practicing hot routes

Rowan County football players are practicing early in the morning, but not early enough.
Wednesdays practice in Morehead, Kentucky started before 9:00 am, but the heat index was in the upper 80′s. A short time later, 4 players were transported by ambulance to a local hospital to be treated for heat stress illnesses. Two others were taken to the hospital by their parents with similar conditions. Still others were attended to by a nurse at the school.
Practice was canceled for the rest of the day, but you wonder if the coach might be reworking his training regimen in light of the Vikings players dropping like flies during practice.
Of particular concern to any coach is the latest news of coaches being charged with murder when a player dies of heat stroke, and it does happen a couple of times every year.
