Cory Fritz former Owendale-Gagetown coach found guilty

Cory Fritz is a former girls softball coach at Owendale-Gagetown High School in Owendale, Michigan.
He was found guilty today of having sex with an underage girl. The girl was 14 years old when the sexual relationship began in mid 2005 and continued through early 2006. During testimony, the girl [who is now 19] said they had sex at her home over 30 times. The girl was also a player on the Owendale-Gagetown Bulldogs softball team that Fritz lead as a coach.
The only serious defense Fritz could muster was admitting that they had dated when she was 14, but that he waited until she was 16 before having relations with her. The jury was clearly not moved by his defense.
Fritz will likely spend at least one year in jail, but could face up to 15 years. That decision will be rendered on October 18th.
Cory Fritz is 27 years old.
