Andrew Hurd of Gardner-Edgerton dies in crash

Andrew Hurd was a team captain on the soccer team at Gardner-Edgerton High School in Gardner, Kansas.

He died Monday afternoon as a result of an automobile accident around 6 pm. Hurd had been at soccer practice earlier, and was headed out to band practice when he struck a pickup truck in an intersection, seriously injuring 2 men in the other vehicle. Police have not released details of who was at fault in the accident, and they are continuing to investigate.

Teammates and coaches remember Hurd as a quality quy that all of his teammates looked up to.

Andrew Hurd was just 16 years old.
