Zach Maurer was a four year Lacrosse starter for Gaithersburg High School in Maryland.
He was arrested last week and charged with arson. Officials have reason to believe that he was at least partially responsible for setting fire to the Gaithersburg Trojans baseball press box. The fire that destroyed the press box made the stadium unusable for a time and the team had to play games at another facility. The damages are estimated at 20,000 dollars.
2 other students, who are both minors and therefore unnamed, are also facing similiar charges.
Maurer has officially been charged with second-degree arson, first-degree malicious burning, disturbing a school operation, two counts of school trespassing and/or property damage, conspiracy to commit second-degree arson and conspiracy to commit first-degree malicious burning.
Zach Maurer is 18 years old.
