Phoebe Prince of South Hadley will send a message in death

Phoebe Prince was a beautiful young lady who attended South Hadley High School in South Hadley, Massachusetts.

She was found hanging in a stairwell on January 14th wearing the same clothes that she had worn to school at that day.

And now all of the horrific details are emerging that explains what would lead such a young girl to take such a drastic measure.

It seems a group of  kids at the school set out to relentlessly bully and torment at every opportunity.  They made a sport out of tormenting her and trying to make her suffer every ounce of anguish and humiliation that they could hand out.

As a recent Irish immigrant, she was not allowed in the clique’ that certainly existed at this less than honorable school.  After she dated a popular football player, some of the girls must have become jealous because in their minds Phoebe Prince didn’t know her place in South Hadley society.

For the past 4 months this group of “bad kids” as they have been referred to have attacked her on social websites, by email, and pretty much any other electronic means available.  They called her names like slut and whore as she walked between classes.  This happened relentlessly every day Phoebe attended this school.

School authorities were repeatedly asked to intervene but the cowards in administration took little to no action in the matter.  A couple of teachers told school administrators as well, but again it fell on deaf ears.  Perhaps it was because the bullies were popular, or because many of them were involved in this schools’ athletics programs.  Now, after the fact, several of them have been removed from the school, but it is an absolute abomination that they were not removed before Prince died.

Finally, one day she was verbally abused all day and as she walked away from school she was struck by a soda can from a passing car as they screamed even more humiliating insults at Prince.

Prince went home, went to a stairwell at her home, and ended her life.  Surely that would stop the bullying, right?  Not at this school, not with this group of souless animals.  They continued to make disparaging and hurtful remarks and attacking her and her family on the internet.  They were having a good time.  They had completed their mission to get rid of her.

Now one person with a spine is NOT going to let this stand.   Northwestern District Attorney Elizabeth Scheibel is going after this group of idiots with the same sense of purpose that they went after Phoebe Prince.

Scheibel has had 9 students arrested and she is throwing serious criminal charged at the whole group.  As a D.A. , she knows these kids didn’t put the rope around Phoebes’ neck, but they might as well have.

The following group are the students that have been arrested and charged so far;

Austin Renaud, 18, was charged with statutory rape.

Sean Mulveyhill, 17, was charged with statutory rape, violation of civil rights, harassment and disturbance of a school assembly.

Kayla Narey, 17, was charged with violation of civil rights, criminal harassment, and disturbance of a school assembly.

Ashley Longe, 16, was charged with violation of civil rights as a youthful offender.

Flannery Mullins, 16, was charged with violation of civil rights and stalking as a youthful offender.

Sharon Chanon Velazquez, 16, was charged with violation of civil rights and stalking as a youthful offender.

Three female juveniles from the school that are under 16 and considered juveniles are also being charged.

These are very serious charges and each of the accused faces lengthy jail sentences.  It will be interesting to see what happens when they start pointing the finger at each other to minimize their own involvement.  They probably won’t be bullying anybody in prison.
