Joseph Wayne “Joey” Fonseca was a varsity baseball pitcher at Kempsville High School in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
He was killed in an automobile accident early Sunday morning when the car he was in left the road and struck a tree. The 16 year old driver of the car has not been identified, but police believe that he was under the influence of alcohol and have charged him with DUI and involuntary manslaughter.
Joey Fonseca was just 16 years old.

All of you people trying to say awful things [dave & MS], shame to you. All of us are mourning and you’re going to sit there and make Joey out to be a bad kid. Wow, you suck. MS, hey don’t you think that if you’re drunk you have impaired judgement? Nobody PLANS on crashing into a tree and dying. You’re an awful person. And dave, same goes to you. You two should go to hell for saying such awful things. Rest in paradise, joey.

I knew Joey and the driver. Joey played ball with my brother for years, and our dads coached together. It is a tragic loss, but we have to learn from it. We can never forget why he died. Because if we do, itll only happen again. And its also not gonna go anybody any good to be angry at the driver. They both chose to get in that car on Sunday morning.

…and try not to get in a car with a driver who HAS been drinking! Call your folks, call someone else, WALK, but PLEASE don’t ride in a car driven by someone who’s had even “a few”! And seat belts, seat belts, seat belts.
God bless the family and friends, and God bless the boy…
