Steve Schuler of Lauralton Hall gets shafted

Steve Schuler was the varsity girls basketball coach at Lauralton Hall High School in Milford, Connecticut.

Anyone that is thinking about going into high school coaching should read his story.

Schuler has his Lauralton Hall Crusaders team at 13-1 and playing lights out. He is liked by his players, he doesn’t mistreat them, and he has an impeccable reputation.

So what else can a school administrator do but fire somebody like this!  The Spineless Lauralton Hall principal Ann Praston decided to fire the coach because he was favoring some players. Yeah, he admits he did favor the TALENTED players.
The coach has had problems being fired by Praston in the past only to be rehired. The core of the problem is a small group of parents are pissed because their senior daughter is losing playing time to younger and better players. This very small group is very vocal and annoying, confronting the coach after games, send emails, text messages, you name it. They want their babies to play in the games regardless of whether or not they are among the best five available.

Coaches always have parents like that to deal with, but Schuler had a jellyfish for a principal that caved in to the pressure of a few angry parents and decided that the winning coach was the problem.

You wonder if the coach had played the “seniors” because of their age and the team was 1-13 how the principal would react. You know the same exact parents bitching now would be bitching if they were losing and it would have to be the coaches fault.

Principals like Ann Praston would probably rather have the scoreboards removed altogether and just hand out sportsmanship trophies at the end of the year.

Steve Schuler is an outstanding coach and will be surely be hired by a serious program very soon.
