Johntay Gowdie was a 15 year old freshman football player at Titusville High School in Florida.
He was accidentally shot and killed by another 15 year old boy that was carelessly playing with a loaded handgun. Johntay was airlifted to the hospital, but would later die of his head wounds.
The boy that accidentaly shot him is in the juvenile detention center and may be facing manslaughter charges. Just one moment of poor judgement that will permanently alter many lives.
Johntay Gowdie was an outstanding football player who was already accomplished as a rising star before he ever got to high school.
dats so sad the guy dat shot johntay didnt know that da gun was loaded. johntay was on my track team, the space coast striders god bless him!

Please speak English. As a black woman I am insulted when people that are clearly black refuse to speak [or type] in a clear and concise way.
The black community is making great strides, but every illiterate comment made on the web sets us back just a few more seconds or minutes.
Lecture over.
This was one great kid. I wanted greatness from him like I do every young black person. Could the rest of us please pick up the torch and make a positive difference.
It is entirely up to us to change the perception.
