The other team should be that good. Overall they’ve made the playoffs the last 3 years losing in the area round to Lake Travis. This year they move to 5A so they won’t see them again and could advance farther. They’re returning 20 letterman from last year and 6 were defensive starters. Add a guy named Malcolm Brown and you’ve got the real deal. Brown is one of the best RB in the country, has committed to Texas, was 27-4A offensive MVP and 4-A 1st team All State last year. He rushed for 2200 yds, 33 TDs and averaged 10.8 yds per carry.
Stranger things have happened but from the way it looks on paper it could be a long night for the Dragons.

As for my opinion on the Round Rock Dragon football team, we have a few problems that simply cannot be resolved this year. We don’t have a scheme that fits our QB skilset, We dont have an O line that can do much of anything, and our team speed is HORRIBLE!
Like someone said before, it is a down year, and there aint a damn thing anybody can do about it. Enjoy watching the kids play, support them and hope for some breaks this season.

Busted punt receiving will kill you all day long. Like the Westlake coach said in an interview today, special teams rarely win you games, but that can frequently lose them for you.
The jury is still out on this team. It is how you react to adversity that makes you a man!
The kids deserve positive fan support and I think we have every right to be excited about the new coaching hire but unfortunately our reality this year is our team is not very big, strong or fast. But the single biggest obstacle I see is the lack of varsity experience on the roster. We may have some talented athletes but there are a good number of them who have very little or no experience whatsoever at the varsity level which also translates into lack of on the field senior leadership. I’m sure these guys will give their all but the fact remains you simply can’t teach experience.
Never said I had great expertise- I did say that our great coaching staff has much more expertise and talent regarding coaching than the people that consistently post negative commenrts about our kids.

Midway is a really good 4A program- just like Lake Travis( great) Dallas Highland Park, and Longview. Coach Cheatham and his staff ate great and they are doing all of the right things with these kids. This was the first game of the season for a brand new staff and team playing against a perennial power that has had it’s program in place for years. Quit the bad-mouthing and complaining- it isn’t fair to the coaches or players. I am certain that the people that ate doing all this bitching and moaning DEFINITELY couldn’t do Coach Cheatham and his staff’s job. This isn’t about you all- it is about building a great program from the ground up. Our Dragon Coaching Staff is INFINITELY more qualified to do this than ANY of you naysayers. Building it from the ground up? Are you serious? Were the locker rooms empty when this coaching staff showed up? I agree that they have the players moral up…. But that will fade rapidly if they continue to stink it up like the opener.
Round Rock is not absent of athletic talent. We have athletes like crazy.
I will probably get blocked but our quarterback was extremely out of position, and anybody that watched that game knows I am right.
I just hope the new coach doesn’t go Wilson on us and stand by his decision on starters and position regardless of their performance.

The HEACH COACH is great. Tons of improvement on the Offensive play calling. Thank god Carter is not involved anymore.
Unfortunity for RRHS we are in a down year for kids with either great size, great speed, or great talent.
Our biggest problem is the quarterback cannot execute the plays – slow decisin making, very slow runner, weak arm strength.
Not a single 5-step dropback passing play worked last night – Needs to only work under 3 step drops for passing plays.
Also, because our line is not able to hold off anybody longer than the 3-second rythem throws for a quarterback.
Hopefully the offense will try to make some addjustments.
You could have titled it “another one of many turning points”. The list is long and the effects go deep. This years baseball team is like all the baseball teams during his tenure, lots of talent but in need of leadership.He will use the existing players in his reasoning and then will sell them out. Individuals come first in his program, team as always will be placed on the back burner.

Why would he want to go from a program that was a regional finalist to a non-playoff program? The coach at Monterrey has proven that he is a very good baseball coach at two different high schools. If the kid is only interested in baseball, he would be better off baseball wise to stay in Lubbock.
What I hope to see this year for the first time in forever is a balanced offense. We have been so predictable the last few years by keying everything around one or two “studs”…
Wilson could never understand the concept of balance and using the “studs” to disquise plays.
It will be fun to go to the games this year and feel like we might see a game we haven’t already seen before!
